Christophe Rabatel, CEO of Carrefour Italy, met yesterday with Italy’s Minister of Industry and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, to discuss the importance of Italian products—a key focus for the retailer.
Rabatel (left in the photo, with the Italian Minister of Industry), who leads the Italian arm of the French supermarket chain, underscored Carrefour’s commitment to championing Made in Italy at home and abroad. In 2023, sales of Italian goods in Carrefour stores worldwide reached €1.15 billion, up 44% from 2021. “This success is the result of our collaboration with more than 11,000 Italian suppliers—farmers and producers who help us bring authentic, high-quality products to consumers every day,” he said.
Carrefour launched its “Carrefour for Made in Italy” initiative in 2024 to coincide with Italy’s first National Made in Italy Day. The company plans to renew its commitment this year ahead of the second edition on April 15. “We remain dedicated to celebrating and supporting Italy’s food and wine heritage,” Rabatel added, thanking Urso for his backing. “We will continue working to promote and expand the country’s agri-food sector, in Italy and beyond.”
