Promoting collaboration to strengthen bilateral ties between the United States and Europe in order to tackle food-system challenges together: nutrition, health and sustainability. Milan Consul General Philip Reeker has announced the US Pavilion’s mission at the next Expo Milano. The American food tradition is not only hamburger and chips, almost for this 53 US exhibitors at Expo Milan ready to offer in the six months of the World’s Fair the best of the gastronomy of the United States. According to the American ambassador: “Us is taking the root of a food culture and the symptom of this is also the fact that “the Italian products are very appreciated by the consumers.” American farmers produce nowadays one fourth of the world’s food, but in order to supply growing population, they are forecast to increase global food production by 70% by 2050.
“Expo will be not only an opportunity thus its theme “Feeding the planet” because in 2050 we will be 9 million people” Reeker explains- “But it will also break ground in Milan to talk about very important matters, that is, the Ttip which should discipline the trade relationship and the commercial exchanges in the food sector among US and Europe.”
