Starting January 1, 2025, Kaufland, a leading retail chain and part of the Schwarz Group, will join AgeCore, the international alliance already comprising four top independent retailers: Colruyt (Belgium), Coop (Switzerland), Conad (Italy), and Eroski (Spain).
AgeCore’s decision to admit Kaufland is founded on several principles:
- Shared values, enabling AgeCore to better navigate rapidly changing markets;
- Kaufland’s development strategy aligns with AgeCore’s goals and those of its members, adding significant value;
- Kaufland’s commitment to a long-term partnership, mirroring the 10 to 17-year tenures of current members.
Headquartered in Neckarsulm, Baden-Württemberg, Kaufland offers a vast array of food products (90%) and everyday items. Its 1,550+ stores attract over 1.4 billion customers annually across Germany and seven other countries. The company continues to grow, recording a revenue of €34.2 billion in 2023.
“With Kaufland’s entry, we affirm our commitment to long-term collaborations with our partner-suppliers,” said Dirk Depoorter, CEO of AgeCore. “In the coming years, we face significant challenges. We aim to bolster cooperation and devise innovative solutions to enhance the sustainability of food supply chains, advance digitalization, leverage artificial intelligence, redefine brand roles, and develop appropriate growth plans. Amid inflation and economic hardships, collaborating with these five leading retailers will benefit consumers—over 47.6 million of whom hold loyalty cards—while serving the interests of suppliers and ourselves.”
