Alibaba unveils its Made-in-Italy Event

Alibaba.com, one of the world’s leading b2b marketplaces, is once again reaffirming its commitment to promoting the excellence of the Italian industry worldwide and encouraging its growth. It does so through the Made in Italy Event, a new dedicated multi-format section of its platform. To date, more than 350 companies have already joined the Made in Italy Event, representing various sectors of excellence in the Italian economy.

Among the Italian food and beverage excellence already present at the Made in Italy Event we can find F.lli Polli, a leading company in the vegetable preserves sector, and Torrefazione Castorino, which is specializing in the careful selection of the best coffees.

THE MADE-IN-ITALY EVENT

Active until February 2024 on the Alibaba.com app, the Made in Italy Event aims to foster visibility, traffic, and conversions towards Italian products and companies present on Alibaba.com, guiding the searches of potential international buyers through the different touch points and the vast offer available on the platform. After a start-up period, all the channels of the initiative are now fully implemented. From showcases dedicated to hybrid activities and live streaming, to the inclusion in high-visibility areas of the marketplace and the creation of highlights that facilitate new business opportunities for international buyers and Italian companies.

The number of participants will grow further thanks to the inclusion in the Made in Italy Event of all the companies that are already part of the project resulting from the collaboration between Alibaba.com and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), created to offer Italian SMEs the opportunity to enter the world’s most important online b2b marketplace for free. The collaboration was the first project in Europe launched by the Alibaba Group together with a government partner, began in November 2020, and was renewed in 2023.

TRACKIT BLOCKCHAIN

Italian exporting SMEs in the agri-food, fashion system, cosmetics, and furniture/design sectors can also benefit from the free TrackIT blockchain service provided by the Italian Trade Agency. Thanks to the traceability of the supply chain guaranteed by blockchain technology, the service makes it possible to make use of their certifications and sustainability features, thus strengthening and protecting the value of Made-in-Italy products in foreign markets.

THE COOPERATION BETWEEN ALIBABA.COM AND ITA

Alibaba.com is the most advanced b2b e-commerce platform, also for its ability to create a digital ecosystem that is functional to the needs of businesses, connecting demand, and supply of even very specific products of different categories. To all this we add the creation of an advanced and easily identifiable environment to promote the excellence of Italian products, thanks to digital marketing tools and strategies,” says Luca Curtarelli, Country Manager for Italy, Spain, and Portugal of Alibaba.com.

The multi-year collaboration between the Italian Trade Agency and Alibaba.com has already enabled over 1,500 Italian companies to expand their borders through the digital channels offered by the leading online b2b platform. ITA’s commitment is not limited to campaigns. In fact, it promotes exporting SMEs through the activation of the Global Gold Supplier membership for two years. In partnership with Alibaba.com, ITA guides companies through the process of reporting and removing counterfeit products from the platform,” says Andrea Degl’Innocenti, ITA Milan Office Manager, Digital Business Services, and Digital Transition Manager.
