Costa d’Oro has announced the closing of a business agreement with Avril Group. This operation marks the birth of the third biggest world group of branded olive oil in a context of growing international markets. The two partners want to elevate the brand Costa d’Oro to the rank of world reference for first quality olive oil. There are two main goals. First of all, the sustainable growth of Costa d’Oro in the branded olive oil market in Italy, where the brand has recently reached the top three market positions, and internationally, where the brand is present in over 100 countries achieving half of total sales. The agreement should also allow the Avril Group to continue its international growth (it currently gets a third of its turnover from exports) by developing its market share in olive oil while remaining faithful to the model of the integrated supply chain between agriculture and industry. For this operation, the Avril Group has been supported by Castel Group, an important French and international player also in the wine, beer, and soft drinks sector.
Olive oil global market
In 2017 the global olive oil market recorded a turnover of 12 billion euro, with a potential annual growth from 4% to 5% reaching 17 billion by 2025 thanks to the increase in demand (especially in China and North America) and to the growing interest in a product whose characteristics are appreciated by the most demanding consumers.
The partnership
Olivier Delamea, General Manager of the Oils & Condiments sector of the Avril Group, said: With this alliance we bring together human resources, know-how, and exceptional products. There are all the premises to make Costa d’Oro a great international Italian brand of olive oil. For Ivano Mocetti, General Manager of Costa d’Oro: We are very proud of this alliance with the Avril Group. Together we will carry on the original project of Costa d’Oro – based in Spoleto, Umbria – providing the means to conquer new markets thanks to innovation and under the sign of the highest level of taste and nutritional quality. The development project also implies a vertical integration of production and agriculture in our country and in the Mediterranean area.
