Our presence is not only a promotional action, but also an occasion to affirm how excellent authentic Made in Italy products must prevail on agri-food piracy and counterfeiting. That is what Nicola Cesare Baldrighi, president of the Grana Padano Consortium, said about a the participation in Cibus 2018 of a product that can count on a production of almost 5 million cheese wheels a year. This year, at the Fiere di Parma trade show the Consortium will not be alone. Together with the most consumed PDO cheese in the world, in fact, there will be the Consortium of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO.
Two Italian cheeses together in the name of taste
In the Year of Italian Food in the World and under the banner of the claim ‘C’è più gusto a stare insieme’ (There’s more taste to be together), these two cheeses are joined together as symbols of Italy. A series of events will animate the shared stand (Pav.2, K72) at Cibus 2018, allowing everyone to know closely two great realities of Made in Italy food. Among the various scheduled initiatives we can find: the inauguration, on 7 May, with the master pizza maker Franco Pepe from Caserta, who will present a preview of ‘Double Shot’ – his latest creation that pays homage to aubergine Parmigiana; the cooking show, on 8 May, by chef Rosanna Marziale, based on Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO and Grana Padano PDO.
Grana Padano in the world
This is an unprecedented synergy in a logic of cooperation aimed at affirming Italian excellence in the world. In 2017, Grana Padano – says Baldrighi – set a new production record of 4,942,054 cheese wheels, 2.4% higher than the previous year. This positive trend is also reflected in exports, with growth of 2.1% on 2016, equal to 1,799,227 wheels sold all over the world. The most important market, in terms of consumption, was Germany with 455,878 wheels exported, followed by France (207,276) and North America, with 194,333 wheels between the United States (145,177) and Canada.
