Cibus 2018 presents Italian food to the world

Cibus 2018 will be the food trade show of novelties. There will be more than a thousand new products offered by about 3,000 exhibiting companies, and 80,000 expected visitors. The most innovative products will be presented in a dedicated area, set up inside a new pavilion. Buyers will be able to taste new products and specialties thanks to the multiplication of cooking shows, with the best chefs busy between the stands, but also in the special space dedicated to the typical food products of the Italian territory. The 19th edition of Cibusfrom Monday 7 to Thursday 10 May 2018, organized by Fiere di Parma and Federalimentare – inaugurates a new pavilion (number 4.1) that will host Cibus Innovation Corner, with a selection of the most innovative products as well as debates on trends and innovations in food and distribution.

Cooking shows and Food Court

The gastronomic profile of the exhibition will be enriched by the new format of the Institutional Food Courts, Tasting areas, and cooking shows of local products, organized in Pavilion 8. Here will be present local companies both alone and associated within the Collective of Regions, Chambers of Commerce, and Consortia (from Campania, Calabria, Emilia Romagna, Piedmont, Tuscany, Lazio, and other Italian regions). To these is added for the first time the Gourmet Taste area, consisting in a selection of companies that will allow visitors to taste international gourmet products, with about twenty exhibitors coming from Europe and Asia. Strategically located next to Food Court and Gourmet Taste, the Buyers Lounge will host 2,500 top foreign buyers, for whom the program of guided visits to food companies of the Emilia ‘Food Valley’ has been increased. There will be buyers and managers from the most important retail chains of the USA, Canada, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. There will also be buyers from the large-scale retail trade operating in Italy and abroad, including the Auchan Group and Coop, that will set up their own space for sourcing and promotion.

The Roadshow

Cibus is the most important exhibition of Italian food for international markets, thanks also to the Roadshow undertaken by Fiere di Parma in collaboration with Federalimentare. Talking about the most recent meetings, on February 14th a Cibus delegation went to Rungis in Paris, the world’s biggest fresh food market. Other missions are already scheduled in Dubai these days, and in London to present Cibus to the world of catering and retail (on February 27 and March 15); finally, at the Foodex exhibition in Tokyo with a Cibus evening at the Italian Embassy (on March 7). This year, there will also be events dedicated to innovation and supply chain relationships in the food sector. There will be great space for Italian products with a designation of origin in the stand of AICIG (Italian Association of Geographical Indication Consortia), while in Hall 7 ‘Multiprodotto’ the stands of the Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agricultural Policies will be hosted, together with Micromalto – that deploys dozens of artisanal local breweries – and oil production presented by Unaprol.

Cibus outside Cibus

As for the out-of-fair-district show, ‘Parma City of Gastronomy’ will present the story of the food excellence of the territory from 5 to 13 May: a multisensory display of knowledge of the products that make Parma the Capital of the Food Valley. Furthermore, an opportunity for an emotional experience where the delights of the senses (tasting, smelling, listening, seeing, and touching) will allow visitors to dive in the life of the city.
