Best known as the perfect condiment for pasta, tomatoes are a perfect ingredient for almost any meal and their healthy properties are good also for your skin, says Juan Pablo Carnevale, Export manager at Mutti, the leader in the Italian tomato-processing industry. In this interview at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, where Italianfood.net organized the Italian Food Awards, Mutti presented its full range from puree, to cherry tomatoes and tomato paste. While tomato puree can be used to prepare a soup in five minutes as well as smoothies and cocktails, finely chopped tomatoes are perfect for pizza and pasta, and cherry tomatoes can be used to prepare a marmalade, Carnevale said. Mutti also offers a tomato vinegar that can give a nice taste to a tuna steak and even an ice cream if prepared as a reduction. More importantly, quality tomatoes have anti-oxidant properties and are good for the skin during the summer season, the manager said.
