Granarolo acquires 50,01% of the important Greek company Quality Brands International. QBI’s core business is the distribution of European dairy products in Greece. Thanks to this acquisition, Granarolo (a Group with 2,800 employees and a turnover of 1,2 million Euro in 2016) will strengthen its presence in the Greek market. The Italian dairy company has been selling its products in Greece for ten years thanks to QBI, which ended 2016 with a turnover of 20,2 million Euro.
The European dairy market
Our products are present in 62 countries in the world, but Europe is the most important market for Granarolo Group. The Greek market is particularly important as it is characterized by one of the highest dairy products’ consumption in Europe. QBI is a very important and well known company, which has been working with Granarolo for a long time. Thanks to QBI we will go on selling our best Made in Italy products in Greece. Our common goal is a turnover of 23 million Euro by the end of 2017 says Gianpiero Calzolari, President of Granarolo Group.
A strategic agreement
This agreement – states Stefanos Panteliadis, President of QBI and of Epirus SA (one of the most important feta cheese manufacturer) – confirms the importance of international cooperation. The advantages are not limited to reinforcing QBI as a cheese manufacturer in Greece, Cyprus and in the Balkans. Epiros products will also benefit from Granarolo international network across 20 different countries where we aren’t currently present.
