Eataly is putting the finishing touches on its second retail-and-dining store in Manhattan, which promises to offer to the busy customers of New York’s pulsating financial district a salad bar, a southern Italian restaurant, and a bakery that will serve fresh bread throughout the day. Founded by visionary businessman Oscar Farinetti less than 10 years ago, Eataly has grown into an ultimate culinary destination by bringing authentic regional specialties from Italy to gourmet tables worldwide. In partnership with B&B Hospitality Group, the restaurant group of Mario Batali, Joe Bastianich and Lidia Matticchio Bastianich, the store will open from 7am until 11pm on the third floor of the Westfield World Trade Center complex. Eataly founder’s son, Nicola Farinetti, serves as chief executive for all the US operations.
THE OFFER OF NEW EATALY NYC DOWNTOWN – The inauguration date of the new location has not yet been announced, but a VIP event is scheduled on August 2. The New York Times reported on July 25 that the store will open “in the next week or two”. Eataly NYC Downtown wants to provide more than a simple alternative to the popular Flatiron store uptown, serving quality breakfast and fresh bread to the bustling “FiDi” clientele. “Our newest Eataly is going to offer exclusive breakfast offers, from an egg panino on the go to a sit-down affair (with a view),” Eataly said on its website announcing the opening.
