Riso Gallo has debuted a new branding line of rice cakes, already acknowledged by the Britain online store Ocado. The brand’s initial product offering will include two varieties: Venere Rice Cakes and 3-Grain Rice Cakes. Both varieties are produced in Italy and have seen successful distribution throughout Europe, according to Riso Gallo. Even if two varieties that will initially be introduced in the UK market, third products may eventually to be launched during the next months, based on the new trends in wellness and meeting increasingly demanding consumer expectations of benefits in snacks.
A HEALTHY OPTION- “Riso Gallo is a traditional family business, but every year we are exploring new opportunities,” said Riso Gallo UK managing director Jason Morrison. “Over the last few years we have introduced venere rice (black rice) and 3 grains into the UK, both as pouched and vacuum pack varieties. For these healthy option products, it was only natural to develop these into rice cakes and bring them to the UK market.”
RICE CAKES, AN IMPROVED FORMULA – The rice cake ingredients are the same as Riso Gallo’s gluten-free pasta – rice, corn, and buckwheat. The improved formulas yield cleaner, more on-trend products that free from artificial ingredients or colourings, the Italy’s company claimed. The manufacturing process ensures that products maintains a perfect clarity and flavour, even over an extended time. And each 100g pack contains 15 rice cakes wrapped in a recyclable foil to ensure the product retains its crunch. Each has a shelf-life of 12 months and a recommended retail price of £1.15. Brexit doesn’t matter for the Italian rice producer which wants, on the contrary, consolidate its positioning in the British market.
