Sometimes you don’t need a big opening party to get people to talk about your new restaurant. And that’s exactly what Chef Jason Neroni did when opening his new B-side Pizzeria in Hell’s Kitchen last week.
After tweeting and Instagramming pictures of pizzas, the chef, known for his time at La Porchetta in NYC and at Pitfire Pizza and Superba Snack Bar in LA, surprised everyone by returning to the East Coast and announcing a new pizza joint, opened in partnership with John Dempsey.
The new pizzeria can accommodate up to 38 people, features a Pavesi oven and is planning on offering. Neapolitan-style pizzas.
Neroni is also leaning onto the dish that garnered him much fame, bucatini alla carbonara, to spice up the pizza scene in New York: the main attention-grabber of the menu is in fact a carbonara pizza made with smoked mozzarella, pancetta, and a soft egg. Other menu items include ash-cooked peaches with charred scallion vinaigrette, and formaggio di fossa; a cauliflower wedge with capers, anchovies, raisins, and pine nuts; bacon & beef meatballs; roasted avocado with preserved lemon; and 10 different pizzas. The single dessert, a panna cotta, is served with grilled strawberries and vincotto.
