Motta cooked hams, going beyond tradition

The cooked ham market has been geared towards ready-made products for many years now, with sales of pre-packaged products constantly taking centre stage. However for Motta the importance of the deli-counter tradition remains a key consideration as they seek to position themselves as specialists in the sector. From this standpoint the company has decided to increase their product offering and introduce new options as viable alternatives to classic cooked hams. A recent example is their ham cooked in aromatic herbs, which follows a time-honoured recipe, based upon traditional yet rarely used cooking methods. This gives the product its unique flavour and consistency.

Motta has also released a new cooked ham at Italian level, which demonstrates the current drive to expand its range and satisfy broad market demands. Its international presence has recently been consolidated thanks to a partnership with another company that has already gone global. “As far as deli-counter whole ham products are concerned”, Stefano Cattaneo, business development at Motta, explains, “we recently expanded our offering to cover the whole range of cured meats. Now we are also looking at roast meats and other specialist products, which have a higher potential for success abroad. In terms of the sliced hams sector, we are counting on the adaptability of our product lines, and not least on progressive production methods. This includes using the best modern technology and adhering to the most scrupulous quality standards. All of which means we can continue to diversify, in terms of our branded range as well as supermarket own label products.”
