Since its founding in a small Cremona workshop in 1836, Sperlari has evolved into a cornerstone of Italy’s confectionery industry. Celebrating its 190th anniversary, the company stands today as a testament to the enduring appeal of Italian craftsmanship, blending historical heritage with modern industrial strategy.

A legacy of growth and innovation

With an annual turnover of approximately 150 million euros and five production sites across Italy, the group remains deeply rooted in its homeland while aggressively pursuing new market opportunities. The portfolio includes iconic brands such as Saila, Galatine, Dietor, Dietorelle, and Paluani. Together, these labels hold significant market shares, particularly in the premium segments of nougat, sweeteners, and confectionery.

As the company looks to the future, it balances traditional favorites with contemporary consumer demands. Investments in R&D and a renewed brand identity—featuring updated logos and sustainable packaging—ensure that the group remains competitive on the global stage. Recent innovations, such as the Sperlari Stick, demonstrate a commitment to making heritage products more accessible for modern, on-the-go consumption habits.

International vision and industrial strategy

Part of the German group Katjes International since 2017, the company has successfully preserved its authentic Italian management and production, with 100% of its goods manufactured domestically. This unique business model has secured the ‘National Interest Historical Brand‘ status for four of its core labels. According to the company’s latest official corporate report, the group is now setting its sights on international expansion, which currently accounts for 20% of total revenue, with expectations for double-digit EBITDA growth by the end of 2026.

Art as a tribute to history

To commemorate this milestone, the company has partnered with local historian Guido Damini to create an artistic chronicle illustrating the group’s evolution. This visual journey through time honors the generations of employees and the local communities that have built the company, reinforcing its identity as a living legacy. As CEO Riccardo Viani states, the goal for the next 190 years is to continue earning consumer trust while embracing the courage to innovate.
