Campari Celebrates Milestone with Commemorative Silver Coin

In celebration of the second National Made in Italy Day, the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, in collaboration with the State Printing and Minting Institute, has issued a four-euro commemorative silver coin dedicated to Campari Group. The coin is now part of the 2025 Italian numismatic collection. The official unveiling took place in Milan just ahead of the national celebration.

Designed by renowned engraver Emanuele Ferretti, the coin features the iconic “Spiritello” (sprite), a character introduced in 1921 by the celebrated artist Leonetto Cappiello. Campari’s first mascot, the Spiritello has become a symbol of the brand’s design heritage and avant-garde spirit. The figure, wrapped in an orange peel, encapsulates the essence of the famous Italian aperitif.

This coin’s release coincides with the 150th anniversary of Cappiello’s birth. The Italian artist is widely regarded for his pioneering advertising posters, including one of the most enduring symbols of the Campari brand. The recognition follows the 2020 launch of a postage stamp celebrating the 160th anniversary of Campari.

Enrico Bocedi, Group Head of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability at Campari Group, expressed the company’s pride in the tribute, describing it as “a recognition of the company’s rich history and its cultural, entrepreneurial, and social impact, embodying Italian excellence on the global stage.” He further noted that Campari has been part of countless meaningful moments in Italian life, particularly through the globally beloved ritual of the aperitivo.
