Italy’s leading dairy group Granarolo SpA acquired 33.47% of Venchiaredo SpA, increasing its shares from 24% – held since September 2017 – to 57.47%. Venchiaredo, based in Ramuscello di Sesto al Reghena (Pordenone), is a Friulian dairy company specializing in the production of stracchino cheese. It can boast 80 employees and a turnover of 26.9 million euro (end of 2018, up 18% on 2017). It processes 36 million litres of milk per year, including standard (60%), organic (30%) and high quality (10%) milk. In 2018 Venchiaredo produced 6,800 tons of stracchino (+ 21.4% vs 2017).
THE SYNERGIES BETWEEN GRANAROLO AND VENCHIAREDO
“The acquisition has already produced important results and synergies – says Gianpiero Calzolari, President of Granarolo – allowing us to follow up on the 2019/2021 industrial plan which provides for greater production efficiency and greater specialization of the plants. We are also pleased to add the 49 members of Venchiaredo Cooperative to our Granlatte chain. They will contribute 250,000 tonnes of milk per year. The presence of Granarolo in a region with an important production vocation is growing.”
THE GOALS
“With the integration within Granarolo Group – says Alessandro Driussi, President of Venchiaredo – we will continue our growth aiming at an annual production of 9,300 tons of stracchino cheese. The origin of the milk will be Friuli Venezia Giulia. This underlines the importance of territory and environmental sustainability for this operation.
