The Italian food industry has reinforced its presence in the Middle East, with 37 companies participating in The Saudifood Show 2026 and the accompanying manufacturing event in Jeddah. As official export data reveals, Italian agri-food sales to Saudi Arabia neared SR 2.2 billion ($587 million) in the first 11 months of 2025, signaling a robust appetite for premium European quality in the Kingdom.
Expanding trade and technical expertise
The delegation showcased a dual strategy: providing high-quality consumer goods and exporting essential food-processing and packaging technology. With 20 companies focused on industrial machinery, Italy is positioning itself as a strategic partner in the Kingdom’s goal to expand its domestic production capacity under Vision 2030. Marco Bocchi, Italy’s Consul General in Jeddah, emphasized that the synergy between the two nations is rooted in strong cultural ties and a shared appreciation for culinary traditions.
Culinary exchange and future growth
The event also hosted a unique culinary demonstration featuring Italian chef Simone Marchi and Saudi expert Bedoor Badr. By blending local ingredients like saffron with Italian staples such as Arancini and Lasagna, the chefs highlighted the natural compatibility of the two gastronomic heritages. Simona Autuori, Italian Trade Agency commissioner, noted that the agency is actively supporting businesses in navigating local regulatory environments and distribution networks to ensure long-term commercial success.
Building sustainable partnerships
From milling experts like Antimo Caputo to preserved food leaders such as La Doria and SICA, the Italian pavilion highlighted the diversity of the country’s regional output. The Saudi food industry remains a top priority for Italian exporters, with investments in hospitality and manufacturing continuing to create new avenues for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
