Historic Italian coffee roaster Caffè Vergnano has officially inaugurated its first coffee shop in Limerick, Ireland, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s ongoing international expansion strategy. This new opening is part of a broader development plan announced earlier this year, which aims to open 10 new locations across Italy and abroad by the end of 2026, alongside ongoing restyling and expansion projects for existing sites.
Global growth and strategic partnerships
Over the past 25 years, the brand’s signature format has successfully reached 203 locations across 22 countries and 120 cities, including 154 in Italy, 22 in Europe, and 27 in the rest of the world. The new Limerick venue, located in the city center, offers a premium selection of espresso and coffee-based beverages, paired with a food menu designed to complement every moment of the day within a contemporary, welcoming atmosphere.
This initiative was developed through a strategic collaboration with Coca-Cola HBC, a key partner in driving international growth. The local team from Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland played a pivotal role in the launch, leveraging their deep market expertise and well-established network within the local hospitality sector.
Sharing the authentic Italian coffee culture
“We are thrilled about the opening of this new Coffee Shop 1882 in Limerick, which allows us to further strengthen the presence of our brand in Ireland,” says Carolina Vergnano, CEO of Caffè Vergnano. “For over four generations, our family has been dedicated to sharing authentic Italian coffee culture with the world, maintaining the quality, passion, and artisanal mastery that define our heritage. The Irish team shares these same values, and we are proud to collaborate with them to bring the Caffè Vergnano experience to local enthusiasts.”
Caffè Vergnano locations are conceptualized as spaces where visitors can fully immerse themselves in the Italian coffee lifestyle. Far from being simple retail points, these personalized spaces are designed to adapt to their specific location and customer needs, creating a comfortable, home-away-from-home environment.
