Ferrero Group announces €283m investment in Ontario

Italy’s Ferrero Group has made a substantial €283mn investment to expand its production facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. This expansion is expected to create approximately 500 new jobs and enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities in the region.

The investment will facilitate the production of new products, including the launch of Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Squares, a new global innovation with its first manufacturing line in Ontario. It will also feature a production line for Nutella Biscuits, marking this product’ will be produced’s first production outside of Europe. This strategic move underscores Ferrero’s intent to diversify its product offerings in North America while reinforcing its commitment to local sourcing and manufacturing.

Ferrero’s expansion is supported by a €22.7 million funding commitment from the Ontario government through the Invest Ontario Fund. The investment aims to enhance the company’s production efficiency by incorporating advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics, which will improve productivity and operational capabilities.

Omar Zausa, president of Ferrero’s Canadian operations, said the move underscores the group’s commitment to the region’s strong growth trajectory and will bolster its manufacturing capacity and supply chain resilience.
