Italian fruit and vegetable sector continues to grow, buoyed by strong export performance. In 2023, exports reached €4.9 billion, and in the first ten months of 2024, they have already climbed to €5.2 billion—up 7% from the same period last year. While full-year data is yet to be released, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) highlights robust gains in non-EU markets, where exports in December grew by 3.9% year-on-year.
Speaking during the 2025 edition of the Fruit Logistica trade show (February 5-7, Berlin), Matteo Zoppas, ITA President, underscored the importance of global trade events. “Fairs like Fruit Logistica remain strategic platforms, allowing producers to engage directly with high-quality buyers. The Italian Trade Agency has invested heavily in promotional activities for this year’s edition, working alongside Assoporti to support Italian exhibitors. Logistics, in particular, is a critical factor in ensuring the sector’s competitiveness.”
