Granarolo has acquired 60% of Mulino Formaggi’s shares from Mulino Alimentare, bringing its share from 40% to 100%. Mulino Formaggi was founded in Parma in 2018 following the meeting of two companies (Mulino Alimentare and Gennari Italia, the latter already property of Granarolo) specialized in the packaging and global marketing of Italian hard cheeses.
The Parma-based company is a strategic tool for the commercial development of Granarolo’s hard cheese business unit. Especially as far as Parmigiano Reggiano PDO is concerned, particularly within the Granarolo Quattrocento line made with milk from the group’s supply chain. The Mulino Formaggi plant has a considerable production capacity and offers all the best packaging technologies to satisfy the most demanding and distant markets as well as various consumption occasions.
“We are still following the growth path traced last year with Venchiaredo” – says Gianpiero Calzolari (in the picture above), president of Granarolo. “The acquisition of Mulino Formaggi allows us to follow up on our 2021-2023 Business Plan which envisages a focus on milk and dairy products in the name of sustainability, greater production efficiency, and greater plant specialization. This acquisition will also allow us to export products in great demand on international markets.”
