Sperlari eliminates animal gelatin from all its candies

Sperlari will eliminate animal gelatine from the production of all its candy brands – Sperlari, Galatine, Saila, Dietorelle – which have always been produced in its four Italian factories in Cremona, Gordona (Sondrio), San Pietro in Casale (Bologna) and Silvi Marina (Teramo).

Following an ethical choice, over the last three years the Italian confectionery company has revised all its recipes in order to eliminate animal gelatin and replace it with ingredients of vegetable origin, such as corn starch and potato starch. Today, the company’s candies – produced in Italy with extensive use of Italian ingredients (e.g., milk for Galatine, licorice and mint for Saila, fruit juices for Sperlari) – are even tastier and richer in flavor.

AN ETHICAL CHOICE

Sperlari is currently one of the three major players in the candy market and has always offered high-quality products, made with special ingredients and in compliance with ethical and sustainability criteria” – says Piergiorgio Burei (in the picture above), CEO of Sperlari. “It is precisely by treasuring this great value that we have undertaken a campaign for the total elimination of animal gelatin from all our products. We are also proud to announce the launch of our new Sperlari Kids candies, made without animal gelatin as well.”

THE NEW SPERLARI KIDS CANDIES

The company has in fact launched a range of vegetable-based products specifically designed for kids: Dinomix, fantastic dinosaurs that sparkle on the palate, Sottomarini, cute sea animals in the oiled version, and Incanti, original flowers and butterflies sweetened on the surface. These candies have also an innovative pack: a paper disposable bag and FSC certified.
