Italian sounding is not something to be ascribed exclusively to industry, but even to the horeca, i.e. with food retailers such as Vapiano, bankrupted some months ago. For this reason, various projects have been launched in recent months such as the “digital identity card” for Italian restaurants abroad, as well as an app to help identify them. And now the MISE has come into play, with a brand new law, for the protection and enhancement of Italian restaurants all around the world.

3 MILLION AND 13 POINTS TO FIGHT ITALIAN SOUNDING IN FOOD SERVICE

The law elaborated by the MISE, inserted in the budget law 2021 includes the allocation of 3 million euros, from 2021 to 2023 and is divided into 13 points:

  1. prepares and coordinates the for the implementation of the purposes referred to in paragraphs 1144 to 1148 of the 2021 Budget Law, in line with the attribution of the “Control Room”
  2. It attributes the distinctive certification of “Italian restaurant in the world”, based on specific technical standards solely for the restaurants who meet the prescribed requirements, proposed by the Technical Secretariat and after verification carried out by personnel from the local Italian chamber of commerce abroad or chamber of commerce mixed or consulate or other body may be identified by the Committee
  3. Attaches certification badge of “Italian pizzeria in the world” and “Italian ice cream parlor in the world”, according to the same procedures as in the previous point
  4. Establishes the methods of checks and promotes legal actions to combat the counterfeiting and abuse of the term “Italian” in the signs, with the right to withdraw the aforementioned
  5. Certification. It takes care of the recovery and protection of national eno-gastronomic traditions, preparing and collecting the recipes of the Italian tradition, favoring their diffusion and adoption in Italian catering establishments abroad
  6. Protects and spreads abroad, with the help of the best Italian gastronomy schools, the regional cuisines of our country, also involving the Italian catering associations
  7. Promotes agreements between the economic categories concerned, involving the agri-food production and processing associations, to improve the supply of food products of national origin and production to Italian restaurants in the world
  8. Also in agreement with the competent bodies of and Regions, professional institutes of Italian cuisine and higher education schools
  9. Promotes and facilitates the apprenticeship activity of students and operators in the sector, in particular at professional institutes and high-prestige Italian catering establishments
  10. Elaborates, proposes and disseminates, with the ” help of Italian professionals and suppliers, any models of interior furnishing of catering establishments, suitable for the promotion and enhancement of the Italian eno-gastronomic offer
  11. It promotes updating programs for the owners and collaborators of Italian catering establishments in the world – also at order to ensure a proper understanding of Italian language schools by involving the best of Italian cuisine training
  12. Constitutes, updates and maintains the database of Italian restaurants abroad, with the help of trade associations most representative
