Out of the three Hyundai department stores in Seoul, the one in Gangnam definitely represents a benchmark of excellence in retailing. The store impersonates the trendy and luxurious soul of the Gangnam neighborhood with the vast majority of its floors dedicated to fashion clothing and accessories, luxury jewelry and high-end consumer electronics.
Unlike the typical layout of the department store, the main entrance floor of the Hyundai is entirely dedicated to food: the so-called “food court” is divided in two main sectors one dedicated to food service with different grocerants and the other one consisting of a luxurious and experiential supermarket.
ITALIAN FOOD PRODUCTS AT HYUNDAI IN GANGNAM
Italian food is leading many categories: from soft drinks to preserves and sauces together with coffee, oils & vinegars it represents the vast majority of references, facings and gondola end caps too; the sampling activities often include Italian products like aged balsamic vinegars, balsamic glazes, extra virgin olive oils and canned tuna.
While the grocerant area is mainly dedicated to traditional Korean food and cuisine with contaminations from France and Japan respectively for patisserie and sushi, the supermarket offers a wide choice of products where Korean fresh and packaged food is showcased with a maniacal attention to order and proportions. At a closer look, the supermarket shelves and fridges host not only Korean food but also foreign specialties, highly valued by in-store communication, sampling experiences and a significant presence of well-trained clerks.
