Internationalisation and innovation are the two main features of the 36th edition of Macfrut, the international fruit and vegetable exhibition hosted at Fiera di Rimini from today to 10 May 2019. The event will set on display an important sector of Made in Italy food, which comes in first place in terms of exports (including processed and preserved fruit and vegetables) with a value of about 8.4 billion euros, 4.9 billion of which coming from fresh fruit and vegetables. This year’s edition will set new records: more than 1,100 exhibitors in eight pavilions, a quarter of which coming from abroad; more than 1,500 buyers from all over the world will be present, in addition to about sixty events including conventions and meetings.
THE GOALS OF MACFRUT 2019
The president of the exhibition Renzo Piraccini said that “Macfrut is the showcase of the Italian fruit and vegetable supply chain: not only finished products but also the entire production chain. All sectors where Italy is a market leader. We have focused on making the fair grow at an international level as Italian companies export more than 70% of their turnover.” Roberto Luongo, Director of Italian Trade Agency, said that “our goal is to make it possible for Italian companies to be present on international markets. In order to support Macfrut 2019 we have invited many buyers and journalists, including those coming from South-Saharan Africa, to ensure that the Italian fruit and vegetable supply chain and companies are highlighted all over the world.”
