Conserve Italia sees growth in organic

Conserve Italia, a leading cooperative company in Europe in the sector of preserved foods, sees more growth coming from organic and natural products supported by a rebalancing in production costs, said Diego Pariotti, head of the Export Department. The group, part of Italian organization Confcooperative which brings together over 14,000 farmers, has invested in traceability to guarantee quality from the farm to the table. Organic products have always been on the mind of every single consumer, but in the past they were sold as expensive products. In reality, when you implement proper organic policies on the land, production costs are not far from the standard ones, Pariotti told Italianfood.net. As demand for healthy products growth, the manager said consumers can trace Conserve Italia products back to the piece of land where the vegetables and fruit were produced. You can trace each product from every single pack, using in some cases the QR code that shows you exactly where the product is coming from, Pariotti said in an interview at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco.
