After its successful worldwide editions, the Italian Food Awards arrive for the first time in the United States to celebrate the most innovative Italian food and beverage products for the US market with an awarding ceremony that will take place on Sunday, June 25th, 2017 at the Summer Fancy Food Show (Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York City).
Awards for innovation
The Italian Food Awards USA 2017 is organized by ItalianFood.net – the international, integrated B2B project by Parma-based Publisher Gruppo Food – supported by the Specialty Food Association (SFA), owner and producer of Fancy Food Show and Universal Marketing, SFA’s exclusive Italian Agent. Italianfood.net received a total 191 nominations from 112 Italian companies participating in the Summer Fancy Food Show. The winners of the USA 2017 edition are the most innovative Italian products selected by an all-American jury composed of selected operators of retail and foodservice, importers, and distributors. The categories are: Bakery & Snacks, Beverage, Frozen Food, Olive Oils & Condiments, Pasta, Preserves & Sauces, Rice & Cereals, Salumi & Cheeses, Sweets & Confectionery, Vinegars & Dressings. In addition to this, three Special Awards dedicated to Packaging, Innovation-Creativity, and Sustainability will be given to 3 products among all the participants in the awards.
A lot to celebrate
Phil Kafarakis, President, Specialty Food Association, said: The Specialty Food Association is very honored that Gruppo Food will be presenting the Italian Food Awards USA 2017 at our Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. This marks the first time this prestigious global award is being presented in America. With Italy representing the largest international presence at our Show, it’s fitting for the SFA to join with Gruppo Food in highlighting extraordinary achievement in Italian food. The Italian Food Awards will certainly add to the excitement and innovation celebrated at the show. The winners will be unveiled on Sunday, June 25th at 5 pm in the presence of personalities of the Italian food business community including Eataly’s Dino Borri, US Food’s corporate chef Mike Miello and SFA’s President Kafarakis. During the ceremony, Italian olive oil brand Filippo Berio, which this year celebrates its 150th anniversary, will give the special Award ‘Welcome to USA’.
Summer Fancy Food, a “new and classical” trade show
This edition of the Summer Fancy Food Show in June 2017 in New York will be a special one, declares Donato Cinelli, sole agent for the Specialty Food Association and strategist of the Italian Pavilion. We will present a new look, primarily created following the needs of those who work during the period of the show and what’s more, – continues Cinelli, – we have brought with us to the Fancy Food Show, the Italian Food Awards. The Italian Food Awards USA 2017 is the first edition dedicated to a specific country: it celebrates innovation and therefore has selected both niche and mass-market products. We are really honored that the first USA edition of the Italian Awards will take place at the Summer Fancy Food Show and that this event will give voice to the most innovative Italian products.
