The latest European food safety authority (Efsa) report underlines that – as Coldiretti also states – 6.5% of food samples coming from non-EU countries contained pesticide residues exceeding the permitted limit values. Moreover, evidences of EU unapproved pesticides have also been detected. On the contrary, according to “National summary reports on pesticide residue” published by Efsa, only 0.3% of Made in Italy products contain chemical residues exceeding the permitted limit values while 1.6% of EU products share the same problem. As a result, we can say that Made in Italy food products are 22 times safer compared to non-EU ones as for pesticide residues.
