The biggest food trade fair for North China’s food industry is ready to start, including the Italian Pasta Summit culinary competition

The food industry in North China is preparing for its participation in the upcoming third edition of ANUFOOD China – powered by Anuga (the largest and most influential event of its kind in the region) – to be held from November 16-18 at the New China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. Adding more excitement to the event is the hosting of a slew of activities, including the 5th China International Catering & Food Expo as well as the Chinese World Cuisine Championship 2016 by the China Cuisine Association (CCA), strategic partner of ANUFOOD China. This year’s display area will grow by nearly 23 percent, to reach 27,000 square meters compared with last year. Over 700exhibitors and 100 media are expected. Vending machines and baby food will make their debut at the event, in addition to featuring imported products of strong growth momentum in China, such as dairy and meat, snack foods and confectionery, seafood, condiments, catering services, alcohol and fruit juice.

ITALIAN FOOD CULTURE – Overseas exhibitors hailing from more than 36 countries and regions will be present, having received strong support by their respective national food promotion agencies. To better promote Italian food culture and cuisine to the world, in partnership with Italian Embassy and Italian Trade Agency – ICE, the Italian Pasta Summit China Edition 2016 will debut on November 16 at ANUFOOD China. Organized with the support of Italian Federation of Cooks (FIC) and Koelnmesse, the summit will also comprise a culinary competition. Over 20 contestants are expected to pit their skills against one another in teams over 5 sessions in 3 days to vie for the “Creative Pasta” and “Best Pasta Dish” titles. Featuring a cook-off and lectures by culinary masters, expect a unique interpretation of Italian flavors.

E-COMMERCE – Pavilions from the Chinese provinces of Shandong, Hebei and Zhejiang are set to further expand the display of traditional food. Renowned brands including Alibaba’s e-commerce platform 1688, JD.com, Unilever, Electrolux and Metro will also participate in ANUFOOD China for the first time in various formats. A suite of tailored activities will cater to the different needs of participants from both the domestic as well as international markets. Featuring a simulated canteen and a hotel catering establishment respectively, the feature zone aims to present the products in a refreshing format with the support of industry giants Unilever, Metro and Electrolux. Invited guests can observe food preparation process and taste the dishes, while interacting with suppliers. Besides that, conferences, business matching and culinary competitions will be enhanced in scale and content innovation. E-Commerce platform representatives will also conduct interactive sessions for overseas food enterprises to unravel the mystery of China’s success in the rapid development of e-commerce channel and offer advice on how to leverage it.
