Italian food retailer Eataly has teamed up with Italy-based catering company Autogrill to create a new format called 'Eataly x Autogrill'

Italian food emporium Eataly (www.eataly.net) has entered into a partnership with foodservice provider Autogrill to launch a new format named Eataly x Autogrill. The new outlet will be located at the Secchia Ovest (Modena) service area, managed by Autogrill (www.autogrill.it) on Italy’s A1 motorway. The area sees a significant flow of Italian and foreign travelers throughout the year, and is located in Emilia-Romagna, a part of Italy particularly renowned for gastronomy. The new Secchia Ovest Eataly outlet expects to see around 1,300,000 customers over the coming 12 months, as official data said. Autogrill will manage the outlet, which it describes as an “alliance of taste”while Eataly’s CEO commented the initiative underling the aim of the partnership: “ Eat better and  travel better”. The Italian catering company has  signed agreement with, the popular Turin based chain founded in 2007 by Oscar Farinetti, which today counts several food and restaurants emporium in Italy with the aim to meet new needs as well as to build  integrated retail system to increase sales.

Autogrill’s outlet is the first area that will feature the Eataly dining venue- The Autogrill’s outlet of Secchia  restaurant will mirror Eataly’s  atmosphere, creating a stylish, where people can eat and learn about Italian food. The offer on the ground floor includes a 24-hour café, confectionery counter, salad bar and bakery. The first floor is taken up by table service restaurants which can seat 350 people. It will be interesting to see whether Eataly’s high quality, atmospheric store translates to such a different environment. Moreover, the  offering on the ground floor includes a round-the-clock café by Eataly and Kimbo, and a confectionery counter with ‘Golosi di Salute’ pâtisserie by Eataly pastry chef Luca Montersino.
