Lidl is more and more Italian, not only in store but also on a senior management level. Ignazio Paternò is the new president of the Italian subsidiary and takes over from Daniel Marasch, who after five years will go on to the role of President of Lidl Germany. The appointment marks a turning point in the history of the player, which has been in our market for 23 years, because Paternò, despite his young age of 35, 11 of which were spent in Lidl, is the first Italian to file this position. Until now the manager was in fact purchasing director of Lidl Italia, a role that saw him in a key position in the renewal of the entire assortment, operated by the chain, aimed at giving a greater impression of Italian heritage and a regional offer. A project that – as Lidl also recently stressed – has resulted in a boost of exportation of Italian products to the other subsidiaries of the group, which operates in in 26 European countries.
