United Kingdom tops the chart of the main European destinations for the export of Italian rice, it has increased the purchase of rice from Italy by as much as 15,268 tons (+32,1%) followed by France (+ 8,682 t), Hungary (+5,487 t), Denmark ( +2,695 t), Czech Republic (+1,915 t), the Netherlands (+1,363 t), Austria (1,146 t) and Sweden ( + 896 t). Export has decreased, however, to Spain ( -2,314 t) and mostly to Germany (-9,645 tons, i.e. -7,7%). Commercial exports from Italy to third countries of the 2012/2013 Campaign registered 119,510 tons of rice, base manufactured and at 5% breakage rate. Compared to the 2011/2012 Campaign the export shows an increase of +19,457 tons (+ 19,5 %). But some have concerns about the future. The export has gone well so far with the price increase in raw materials which took place at the new harvest, however, the prospects are not so good for the entire industry. So there are those who are getting ready to ride the wave. Italian risotto specialists, like Riso Gallo and Riso Scotti, have developed a special line of products for international markets, presenting a complete line of rice products able to satisfy the needs and tastes of foreign consumers who want to replicate Italian recipes. Riso Scotti has launched the very Italian, gluten free, risotto presented through the classic Arborio tradition: also available in wet parboiled packaging for a quick and easy preparation, or through 5 minute recipes ready to be mixed with seasonings for an excellent Porcini, Parmigiano or Milan Risotto , as well as in a variety of dry risottos ready in 12 minutes.
