The Consortium for the protection of Prosciutto di Norcia PGI has won the prestigious Foreign Press Association’s “Gruppo del Gusto” Award in Italy. The accolade recognizes the collective effort of local producers, their commitment to safeguarding tradition, and their dedication to high production standards.
The award ceremony took place on October 31 during the 22nd edition of the Foreign Press Association’s Gruppo del Gusto Awards at the Lloyd’s Baia Hotel in Vietri sul Mare, along the Amalfi Coast. The initiative celebrates Italian agri-food excellence, highlighting quality, sustainability, tradition, and the preservation of the country’s food and wine heritage.
The Consortium was awarded in the “Agri-food Consortium” category, which honors “those who defend and enhance production through a collective and solidary commitment to maintain quality and biodiversity.” This rationale acknowledges the value of the entire supply chain and the importance of collaboration among producers to protect and promote a product tied to Norcia’s history and identity.
Aart Heering, Vice President of the Foreign Press Association, presented the award. Dante Trefoloni of the Trefoloni & Associati agency—the Consortium’s press office—accepted the award on behalf of President Pietro Bellini. “We accept this recognition with great pride and satisfaction,” stated President Pietro Bellini. “Ten years after the earthquake that deeply affected Norcia and our territory, this award takes on an even more significant meaning. It is also a recognition of the resilience of our consortium members, businesses, and the entire related industry, who faced difficulties, rebuilt production facilities, and returned to compete in the market, achieving significant results.”
