Italy’s Casalasco Group has concluded the 2025 tomato campaign with almost 800,000 tons of processed product, consolidating its position as Italy’s market leader and a key international player in the industrial tomato sector. The company described the result as “a remarkable achievement in a year marked by strong climatic instability,” adding that it “demonstrates the solidity of Casalasco’s organizational model and the strength of its integrated supply chain, capable of combining quality, efficiency, and sustainability.”
The campaign, which began earlier than usual, recorded high yields and strong Brix levels, indicators of the fruit’s quality and concentration. Although early-summer heatwaves affected the flowering of intermediate transplants, Casalasco managed to recover in the second half of September. The resilience of member farmers and the agility of the industrial organization played a key role in offsetting losses caused by heavy rains across the central-eastern basin. Late transplants also contributed significantly to balancing production volumes.
“This result is, first and foremost, the fruit of the commitment and expertise of our agricultural members,” said Marco Sartori, President of the Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro and Casalasco Spa. “Even in a complex year, our cooperative strength and field experience proved decisive in ensuring quality and continuity.”
In 2025, Casalasco’s producer members achieved average yields of 730 quintals per hectare, also benefiting from insurance coverage against rain damage. While Northern Italy experienced an overall 13% decline in production, Casalasco’s model once again showed its capacity for effective response.
“Once again, our integrated supply chain has demonstrated its ability to react promptly and professionally to the challenges posed by climate change,” commented Costantino Vaia, CEO of Casalasco Spa. “The quality of our product, the efficiency of our plants, and our know-how have been decisive in turning a complex season into a valuable achievement. This milestone confirms Casalasco as a leader in the production and processing of industrial tomatoes in Italy and as one of the major global players. We continue to grow while keeping sustainability, innovation, and the promotion of Made in Italy at the core of our mission.”
TURNING A CHALLENGING SEASON INTO A SUCCESS
The 2025 campaign closed on a highly positive note for Casalasco, reaffirming the group’s role as a driving force in the Italian agri-food sector. By leveraging a blend of agricultural expertise, industrial innovation, and a commitment to sustainability, Casalasco has consolidated its leadership position—even in one of the most challenging production contexts in recent years.
