Italian dairy leader Latteria Soresina has officially finalized its merger with Saviola, a strategic move that marks the completion of an ambitious industrial growth project. The integration, effective October 1, 2026, solidifies the company’s role as the leading primary cooperative in the Italian dairy sector, further enhancing its expertise in producing iconic PDO cheeses.

A strategic milestone for Italian dairy

The journey toward this merger began in March 2024, when the cooperative joined forces with Zanetti dairy group to acquire Saviola. This unique partnership brought together the strengths of a cooperative and an industrial company, focusing on the production and distribution of Grana Padano PDO and Parmigiano Reggiano PDO. Following a smooth transition and the successful restructuring of manufacturing assets in San Giovanni in Croce, the two companies are now operating under a single corporate entity.

Synergy and future growth

Beyond the formal business combination, the merger represents a significant technological leap. The group’s IT department has implemented a comprehensive digital transformation of data networks and management flows, ensuring increased operational efficiency. Tiziano Fusar Poli, President of Latteria Soresina, emphasized that this move is “the crowning achievement of a strategic operation aimed at industrial growth, ensuring continuity for our 125-year history while addressing the needs of a competitive global market.”
