Italy’s Ferrero Group has officially signed an agreement to acquire Purely Elizabeth, a high-growth modern wellness brand and a leading player in the U.S. better-for-you food segment. This strategic move significantly strengthens Ferrero’s presence in the American breakfast market, following its recent acquisition of WK Kellogg Co.
Scaling wellness in the breakfast category
Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Purely Elizabeth has demonstrated impressive momentum, having more than doubled its sales over the past two years. The brand has built a commanding position by pioneering premium, taste-forward products—including granola, oatmeal, and cereals—made with high-quality ingredients such as ancient grains and seeds. Recently, the company has successfully expanded into the rapidly growing protein segment, aligning with modern consumer demand for functional nutrition.
Strategic integration and continued growth
Upon the closing of the transaction, which is expected in the coming months pending regulatory approval, Purely Elizabeth will continue to operate as a standalone brand within the Ferrero Group. Founder and CEO Elizabeth Stein will retain her leadership role, ensuring continuity in the brand’s innovative spirit and commitment to quality. Ferrero plans to support this next phase of development by leveraging its global operational capabilities and distribution networks to help the brand reach a wider audience.
“With this transaction, Ferrero builds on its recent acquisition of WK Kellogg Co, reinforcing both its presence at breakfast time in America and its reach in the better-for-you segment,” said Giovanni Ferrero, President of Ferrero International S.A. This acquisition is part of a long-term strategy for the Italian-born group to invest in high-growth categories while maintaining the excellence that defines its global footprint.
