Oropan S.p.A., the leading Italian company of traditional breads from Altamura in Puglia, Italy, is now selling on the digital platform, Alibaba.com, to strengthen its international business and increase the company’s e-commerce sector.

“We strongly believe in the digital transformation of our business to actively promote our products with new tools in line with the habits of post-Covid international buyers. We aim at sharing our Made in Italy heritage in new and unexplored territories” announced Lucia Forte, CEO of Oropan S.p.A.

“We are pleased to welcome on our marketplace such a fast-growing Italian food company. Alibaba.com’s mission is to support “Made in Italy” and SMBs in thriving in export through our B2B marketplace. Alibaba.com believes in the strong entrepreneurial spirit that animates Italian businesses in the food sector and rejoice in being a facilitator in their road to success” – said Luca Curtarelli, Country Manager Italy, Spain & Portugal at Alibaba.com.

Vito Forte, founder of Oropan S.p.A., is one of the most respected Italian bakers. Mr. Forte started working as an apprentice baker in one of the oldest medieval bakeries in Altamura, the Italian “city of bread”. He’s still involved with the company’s day to day activities as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Today Oropan S.p.A., is still rooted in family tradition. Members of the Forte family are part of the leadership team spreading the rich baking tradition of Altamura and the principles of the Mediterranean Diet all over the world. The company promotes a healthy and balanced diet through its distinctive bread, focaccia bread, and bread rolls made with durum semolina and mother dough. The results of each product add value for retailers, importers, and distributors worldwide.

“We have been strengthening our presence in several European markets such as Germany and Belgium, while we plan to increase our business in North America, where the authenticity and quality of our Apulian durum wheat bread are increasingly appreciated by foodies” – added Vincenzo Ragone, International Sales Manager of Oropan S.p.A.

With a state-of-the-art production facility designed to combine the application of its original recipe with a large production scale, Oropan S.p.A. is able to meet the highest demands of its international customers.

Through the constant innovation of product, process, and corporate culture, the company looks to the future to spread the rich baking tradition of Altamura in the global market. Furthermore, the company has achieved first-class quality system certifications such as BRC (AA+), IFS (Higher level – score 99,8%), and ISO 9001:2015.
