Piacenti, the short supply chain wins

For Italian cured meats company Piacenti, the pandemic emergency has impacted above all on the turnover of products for the cutting table and exports, particularly in the American and British markets. However, from May onwards the situation has gradually improved.

The top sellers, with a long wave trend maintained even in the current period – explains Daniela Lazzeretti, General Manager of Salumificio Toscano Piacentiwere certainly the cold cuts, starting with those made for free service. In 2019 the Terre di San Gimignano supply chain line overcame all turnover targets. It was an ambitious goal, achieved thanks to a rigorous attention to quality. Not only the quality of products, but also packaging, related services, communication, up to the investments in support of the range.”

The Tuscan company, which last year recorded a turnover of 15.2 million euros (90% in the retail channel), is expanding its offer. “We will add references with a high service content to the Terre di San Gimignano line – says Lazzeretti including sausages and roast slices ready to use in a few seconds, to support the emerging need to eat practical and ‘fast’ products without giving up quality. We will then launch the Stp Green project, which revises the entire production packaging in terms of environmental sustainability.”
