Exports are growing for Mortadella Bologna PGI

Mortadella Bologna PGI is renowned for its unmistakable, intense and slightly spicy fragrance. Its sales continue to grow, especially outside Italy. In 2019 the export share rose from 16% to 18% of total sales in volume (32 million kg.).

The increase in exports was 20%, and the EU countries are confirmed as the main outlet market with a 94% share of total exports. The top importing countries were once again France and Germany, trailed by Spain (with a +16% sales growth), and Great Britain (+8%).

The remaining export share (6%) is represented by non-EU countries, with Switzerland coming in first place (27%), followed by Japan (13%, with an increase in consumption of 28% – due to the activities that the Consortium is carrying out in the Japanese Ho.Re.Ca. channel), Lebanon (11%, + 40%) and Canada, whose share is still equal to 9% of the total. However, in Canada sales grew by +204% compared to 2018, thanks to the CETA agreement.
