With over 170 companies of all sizes – a few dozen of them gathered in the collective organized by Koelnmesse Italia – Italy is among the most represented countries at ISM, the trade show dedicated to the international confectionery market.
The fair, which opened its doors yesterday and will close on Wednesday, crosses the milestone of 50 years with a record edition: 1,750 exhibitors from 76 countries, on a total area of 120,000 square meters (in 1971 about 351 companies participated with 5,800 professional visitors on a 16,500 square meters of exhibition space).
Once again, it is worth pointing out the international vocation of ISM: about 88% of exhibitors and 70% of expected visitors come from abroad. ProSweets Cologne also takes place in the context of ISM.

SNACKS LEADING THE SWEETS MARKET AT ISM
Among the most prominent trends this year is snacking, alongside organic, vegan, vegetarian, fat-and sugar-reduced, gluten-free, and lactose-free products. The vegetable proteins made from beans and peas trend is also beginning to establish itself. Above all for the enrichment of snacks such as muesli bars with hazelnuts, almonds or added hemp.
