Latte Arborea expands its dairy business with the acquisition of the Caplac cooperative in Capannori (Lucca). It is an important reality in the dairy sector, owner of the S. Ginese brand by which it is distributed throughout Tuscany and part of Liguria. This transaction – commented Francesco Casula, general manager of Latte Arborea, and chairman Gianfilippo Contu – confirms our desire to grow and specialize in the dairy market. The definitive acquiring of Caplac follows on from the activity carried out during the rental period of the Tuscan company, which began in February 2017.
Strategical growth
One of the national leading players in the milk sector (with a turnover of 166 million euros in 2017), and the market leader in Sardinia, Latte Arborea will continue to sell S. Ginese branded products in their historical markets. The acquisition follows that of last February, when the Sardinian cooperative took over the yoghurt producer Trentinalatte from German group Livia present on the market with the brands ‘Trentina’ and ‘Collina Felice’. In 2013 Latte Arborea purchased Fattorie Girau, a company specialized in the sheep and goat dairy sector.
Latte Arborea focuses on Far East
In confirmation of its desire to expand, Latte Arborea has also recently started an internationalisation process: milk, cream, butter and mascarpone for exports. The destination markets are China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Macao, South Korea, and the Philippines. For the future, the markets of Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia are already being targeted.
