Autogrill’s rock ‘n’ roll restaurant (in Honolulu)

Autogrill Group, through the American subsidiary HMSHost, together with the joint venture GRL Corporation and rock legend Sammy Hagar – ex musician the Van Halen band – will open a new restaurant that could share the artist’s love for food, life on the beach and rock ‘n’ roll with Hawaii’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport travelers. On December 20, HMSHost and the airport will celebrate the new opening with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony. Located at Ewa Concourse Terminal near Gate 28, this is the fourth Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill opened by HMSHost in a US airport.

The menu

The menu of Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill at Honolulu focuses on affordable and high quality dishes to meet the needs of all travelers, from vacationers to businessmen, as well as Hawaiians moving to other islands to visit relatives. The Tex-Mex and the tasty traditional American cuisine for which Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill is reknown meet Hawaiian influences, giving birth to dishes such as Tacos Baja Style Beer-Battered Mahi Mahi, Kalua Pork Sliders, Beach Fish & Chips and the Red Rockin Haleakala Wings. The drink offer is particularly rich, including tequila and rum: Cabo Wabo Tequila and the Beach Bar Rum, the latter used for the famous Mint Macadamia Mule.

The restaurant

The restaurant is designed to homage Hawaii’s lifestyle and rock music at the same time. The decor is inspired by the beach, thanks to brightly colored walls and surfboards used to illuminate environments, and music, thanks to autographed Hagar’s guitars, handwritten songs, and Van Halen’s framed vinyl records. HMSHost has also expanded access to top-quality fresh products for Terminal Ewa travelers with the opening of Makai Plantation, its gourmet market. Makai Plantation takes its name from the Hawaiian term “to the sea” as it is located on the side of the airport overlooking the sea. It also pays homage to the history of Hawaiian pineapple and sugar cane plantations, which were the core of the local economy in the 19th century and 20th century. With tables, bars and a wide variety of food choices, Makai Plantation offers local dishes including Market Style Ahi Poke, the Furikake Crusted Ahi Salad, and Char Siu Chicken Bahn Mi. There will also be a sushi bar where it will be possible to try rolls, maki, nigiri and sashimi done at the moment. Next year, the inauguration of the HMSHost concept of Le ‘ahi Plantation is planned within the Diamond Head Concourse terminal.

Hawaii love

Hawaii is one of my favorite places in the world and it’s where my Beach Bar Rum was born. That’s why Honolulu airport is a perfect place for the new Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill Said Sammy Hagar. Let’s drink to my fans and travelers who decide to dine here. I look forward to starting this journey that allows us to help the local community, as we do in other parts of the country. Sammy Hagar will donate his revenue of this restaurant – through the Hagar Family Foundation – to the HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support).
