Italian food export is growing in the world, both in value and volume. In the first half of 2016, it reached €10,675 billion. France is in second place, after Germany, among EU importing countries. In 2015, Italian food products export in France nearly reached €4 million (+2,3%), and in the first half of 2016, €1,7 million (+2,8%). Italy is France’s fifth food products supplier, with a market share of 7,4%. French consumers purchase especially pasta, preserves and tinned tomato, dairy products and beverage.
Sial (Salon International de l’Alimentation) in Paris is the most important biennial food fair in Europe together with Anuga in Cologne. ICE (Agency for the abroad promotion and internationalization of Italian companies) will take part in Sial together with more than 200 Italian food companies in order to show a full overview of Italy’s food production: pasta, cured meat, toppings, preserves, wines and regional typical products, over an exhibition area of 2800 square metres.
For Sial 2016, ICE planned some activities that will help visitors know Italian excellent products. First of all, there will be a daily Show Cooking demonstration to enhance Southern Italy’s food typical productions – particularly from Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily (under the Export Sud Plan).
All this recipes will form a collection, in English and French, that will be distributed to the fair’s visitors and to the Show Cooking participants to enhance Made in Italy gastronomic culture. ICE will also facilitate all networking activities in the business meeting area. Moreover, it has already implemented a communication targeted action through advertisements in some French specialized magazines and on Sial’s catalogue. In the latest edition, Sial had seen more than 150.000 visitors from more than 200 countries. That makes it the perfect opportunity to secure a steady increase in food export on a global scale.
