Inalca, a company of the Cremonini Group leader in Europe in the production of beef, participated by the Italian Strategic Fund, has finalized the acquisition of two separate branches of firm: Unipeg and Assofood. In fact the two companies confirm that the passage is the valorisation, optimisation and the concentration of their respective integrated supply chains. The whole transaction, according to a company’s press release, will be set out the bases to create a new industrial giant which will be strategic in the global scenario, and, that’s most important, it will be entirely Italy made up. Inalca is one of the few Italian companies to oversee the entire production chain. In 2015, the company reported revenues of about 1,59 billion euros, of which 50% in exports. It has an international presence with 11 manufacturing plants (6 of which in Italy, 2 in Russia, 2 in Angola, 1 in Algeria) and 21 logistics distribution platforms (6 in Russia, 4 in Angola, 3 in Algeria, 3 in Congo, 3 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, 1 in Mozambique, 1 in Ivory Coast). Inalca sells annually more than 500,000 tons of meat, produces 100,000 tons of hamburgers, 200 million cans, with 7,200 products and 3,000 employees.
THE NEXT GOAL, 2 BLN EUROS REVENUES – According to Luigi Cremonini, president of the Italian Group:, “the strategic step to move forward is that of the consolidation of our leadership position in the European market and, in Italy, specifically, to produce partnership as well as fruitful collaboration for all the activestakeholders in the Italian beef ‘filiera’. Unipegconstitutes a remarkable patrimony for our know how and they will allow Inalca to strengthen the sources of best quality meat as they are strongly rooted on the national terroir. Besides, last but not the least, thanks to the national and international distributive presence of Inalca, it will be possible to valorize the Made in Italy too”. With the acquisition, Unipeg itself will have a modern distribution supply chain, which will strengthen the presence in the Euro Area, enhancing the service offered to its clients in the global countries.
