One red line and one white line, to cover all tastes, both organic and produced observing the environmentally friendly rules, as guaranteed by the Organic-Vegan Icea certificate. These are the two main changes proposed this year by Cantine Nicosia and represented, in particular, from Nicosia Nero d’Avola and Grillo Igt Terre Siciliane.

“This type of wine – states Carmelo Nicosia, ceo of Nicosia – reflects the organic concept perceived by consumers which is added value compared to the traditional productions. The two lines are the result of years of sheer hard work in the development of a sustainable productive model and, thanks to their organoleptic qualities, we believe that they can be appreciated by a large section of the public. Ours is the only major wine company to offer certified organic-vegan products”. The green aspect will be the backbone of the growth strategy of the winery based in Trecastagni (Catania), which however, in parallel, is confident in the good performance also of other wines in the portfolio, among which the Alantarìa Brut, Charmat method sparkling wine, produced with 100% native Insolia grapes, who made its debut in the big supermarket chains last year. “It can carry the label Igt Terre Siciliane and proves to be a viable alternative to Northern Italian bubbles” comments the owner of the winery. Even the revenue targets are very ambitious.

“In 2015 we aim to achieve an increase of 10% of total turnover, with 35% expected on the export front,” said Nicosia that took the opportunity to make a request to retail: “We ask some large retailers to better exploit the best expressions of the territory, by paying attention to the management of shelf space and a fair presentation of the products”.
