According to Italian company Saclà, 17% of all British household now buy and enjoy Pesto, about three and a half times a year. 75% of it is used on Pasta, the 12% to create fish dishes, 4% gets served with chicken, another 4% gets added to mashed potatoes and 2% is spread in sandwiches. Saclà has decided to capitalise on its product Classic Basil Pesto with a brand new marketing campaign called “The Saclà 5 Ingredient Cinque Challenge”. Consumers have to create their favourite Pesto recipe consisting of just 5 ingredients and upload it with a picture on Facebook. As more and more Uk consumers are turning to free-from foods, Saclà launched Free from wheat, gluten & dairy Basil Pesto in april.
