Top quality spices for Aldi

An Italian operation carried out with a line of organic herbs grown in Italy, under Aldi’s brand Cucina. “The initiative was born after the opening of our subsidiary in Germany – says Andrea Barbagli, managing director of Drogheria & Alimentari –. We contacted directly the retailer, which was immediately interested in our jar with its easily recognizable, typically Italian design. The label shows the Italian origin of the line and is experiencing really high turnovers also thanks to the supporting in store initiatives”.

The results achieved in Aldi are a great business card for the Tuscan company that is proposing the line to other European retailers. The Tuscan company, a specialist in spices, has allocated over € 18 million over a four-year period to give customers the assurance of total control of the supply chain, from field to shelf. It is present in 55 countries around the world as a copacker for the main top retailers. Its strength, quality, is appreciated and recognized also outside of Italy. The company produces lines for major foreign brands. It works with virtually all of the big supermarket chains and the best Italian industry. It also has a wide range branded Drogheria & Alimentari. The turnover increased from € 4 million in 1998 to a forecasted 54 million in 2014. In terms of international recognition, the head of quality assurance and control has been appointed Chairman of the Technical Committee of ESA-European Spice Association, which includes all the companies of this sector. D&A is recognised as one of the best factories in Europe.
