San Benedetto to become more ‘green’. Thanks to a new ‘on-site’ solution from E.ON, which will create a 13.2 MW trigeneration CHCP plant in Scorzè (Venice), the Italian beverage company  will be able to reduce its CO2 emissions by an estimated 17,000 tonnes each year

Essentially, E.ON will be in charge of the design, creation and running of a 13.2 MW capacity trigeneration plant next to the establishment in Scorzè, Venice. On the basis of a long-term agreement, the new plant, which will be in full working order in winter 2015, will supply 100GWh of electricity every year and around 70GWh of thermal energy, together with steam and refrigerated water.

Founded in 1956 in Scorzè (Venice), Acqua Minerale San Benedetto is today a leading company in the Italian beverage market. The firm has established itself thanks to technological know-how at its disposal, enabling it to have made relevant product and process innovations, together with the adoption of winning strategies and market visions. In 2009 the company signed an agreement with the Italian Environment Ministry, which was then renewed in 2011, by which it committed to reducing its CO2 emissions, starting with its carbon footprint measure, and establishing an exemplary model for the mineral water sector.

The president of Acqua Minerale San Benedetto, Enrico Zoppas, stated: “The agreement with E.ON is aimed at reducing the cost of energy and consequently increasing our competitiveness. From the moment that environmental responsibility and sustainability became keywords for the divisions of the San Benedetto group, we have been very happy with the substantial savings of tonnes of CO2 attained by E.ON’s integrated solution”.
